PARENTS
My son has ADHD and finds it very difficult to switch off and get to sleep at night - so David spent some time coaching him through age-appropriate mindfulness techniques. He was absolutely wonderful - from the moment he arrived he was so calm and reassuring, and had such a lovely way about him - my son immediately felt at ease and really tuned in to what David had to say. We use the techniques that David showed us most evenings before bed - he gave us a number of different exercises to choose from so we can alternate to suit our son's mood, his focus and the time we have available to do it in. It's a great way for him to unwind and he always looks forward to doing it - I think because he knows it really works for him and helps him to relax, and he enjoys the exercises. He can do it for himself now thanks to David's amazing and professional coaching, so will always have this amazing tool at his disposal, and for that, we can't thank David enough. The whole experience has been great for our son's self-esteem and happiness too - he feels understood and supported. David genuinely cares, and our son (who can't be fooled!) knows this - it's either there or it isn't - and with David it's definitely there! If anyone is wondering what mindfulness is all about, whether or not it's worth it and how it works - I would say absolutely give it a go. Don't even hesitate. It's made a big difference for us and I honestly couldn't recommend David more highly.

David carried out and then taught me a guided ten-step mindfulness programme to do with my son after he was having trouble sleeping through the night and kept waking up saying he was scared. We did the easy to follow 10-minute mindfulness programme for ten consecutive days at first and within 1 or 2 days he was sleeping through the night! It’s so easy and relaxing to follow and my son likes doing it. We try to do it as much as possible at bedtime and find it really helps put his mind in a good place for sleep, thus having a positive overall effect on his wellbeing in general. Thanks so much, David, for your help and guidance.

My son has benefitted massively from mindful meditation. It has been great for him to calm down and, in his own words, "It gives my brain a break". He has been meditating at home too and doing it of his own accord. It is definitely something that we will continue to do as a family. Thank you for introducing him to it and guiding him along the way.

Mindful meditation has helped my son self-regulate his moods and minimise meltdowns. It has also helped with his anxiety at bedtimes. Mindful meditation has helped my son self-organise his thoughts and be calm enough to put his feelings into words. It gives him the personal space and thinking time to understand his needs and how he can ask for help with these.

He has become calmer since doing mindful meditation and it has helped him concentrate more. He is always trying to get the family to do it as well.

Both my son and daughter benefit greatly from the meditations they have learned at school and do at home. My son in particular uses mindful meditation at home when he gets angry. He goes to his room and spends time meditating. Thank you for teaching the children this valuable skill which is much needed!

My granddaughter said that the meditation made her feel calm and relaxed. She enjoys demonstrating it to me and we practice it together.

Mindful Meditation has helped my daughter when she's feeling sad or angry. She will go and sit in a quiet place to calm herself down.

My daughter is aware that mindful meditation is a tool she can use to manage any stress or worries that she has. She uses it if she is worried about something. She also suggests it to other people if she sees that they are anxious. My other child also uses mindful meditation to help them calm down when they are struggling to control their emotions. They go to their room and have some time to cool off.

By regularly using mindful meditation, my daughter is able to recognise when she is not feeling her normal self. She takes time out to do meditation and this helps her reflect on any issues which are causing her to feel upset. The most significant affect has been with her eczema - it has really calmed down. She would find it difficult to sleep and was showing signs of anxiety. She is sleeping much better and her anxiety has reduced. Mindful meditation has had a very positive impact on my daughter.

Meditation has made my son more calm and his behaviour has changed. He has become a very caring person and helps me out with house chores. I think the ten minute daily meditation is very helpful for their mind and body. Thank you so much for helping my child.

It has helped my son to focus and keep calm. He uses it to take himself out of a situation and keep calm. I think it is a great thing to be teaching from a young age. It helps him with study and personal time. Thank you for the support you give on this.

Mindful meditation has helped my son to stay calm and relaxed when faced with a difficult situation, which in the past would have resulted in them losing their temper or getting upset.

Meditation has helped both my daughters as it seems to calm them down and give them tools to help them when they lose control of their temper. It helps them sleep and gets them ready for bed by calming them down and giving them routine.

There is no doubt that my daughter has benefitted from mindful meditation. She is an anxious child and having some time each day to centre herself and attempt to quieten her mind has given her valuable respite in her hectic day. I think this is a wonderful initiative and both she and I are very grateful for it.

Meditation has helped my daughter enormously. She has been working on her self-regulation and the mindfulness exercises have helped her to calm down. CLIENTS
My personalised voice recording on mindfulness techniques and practices by David has proved to be a really significant help in allowing me to improve both the amount and quality of sleep I get every night and to calm my frantic and often unhealthy thoughts in my head before bedtime. I sincerely appreciate the personalised and thoughtful approach that David took with me.

David helped me unpick several underlying issues and blockages to create a positive mantra consisting of several short statements. He facilitated the exercise and ensured the statements came from within me. This made my mantra truly personalised, so that each statement really resonates with me each time I use it. The mantra has helped me enormously, especially in my approach to work. Instead of ruminating over problems and negative thoughts that arise, I use my mantra and it helps empower me - and the problem just dissipates. It’s like magic! Of his own accord, David created a laminated prompt which is small enough to keep on me at all times (I keep it in my phone case). This was such a thoughtful and helpful tool. Although I no longer need to look at it for reference, just knowing it’s there also helps subconsciously. I am really grateful for this valuable opportunity. Thank you, David.

The exercises you recorded ground and calm me. They keep me in the moment and make me value it more than ever before. They have made me more mindful, more positive and give me greater confidence to deal with whatever situation I find difficult in that moment. They make me feel better about everything.

I worked with David focusing on ways to reduce workplace stress. He grasped my situation quickly and empathically. Even though I had some experience of mindfulness meditation, David shared a few practices with me which I hadn't used before. They've proved to be helpful and easy to carry out during my working day, which was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for your help, David!

David is a very calm, friendly and welcoming person who made me feel very comfortable approaching meditation for the first time. I was introduced to a ten minute meditation which I began doing every night and have now got into the habit of doing so several times a week. I explained to David that I wanted to be able to free my mind of any daily stresses before bedtime and, thanks to him, I have managed to achieve this with his much appreciated help!

I really appreciate you directing me towards mindfulness, David. Daily meditation has helped me to be more calm and relaxed, plus I'm sleeping better. It has also helped improve my eczema. I need to spread the word about the benefits!

Thank you David for the valuable sessions you've given to me over the past eight weeks, initially assessing my mindful needs and accordingly preparing a programme of mindfulness sessions, with weekly reviews of my progress. My initial view of mindfulness was somewhat cynical, but your positive and patient approach as to what could be achieved won me over. You were flexible in your approach as to what course of mindfulness was best suited to my needs, which gave me confidence. I am now self-motivated enough to continue mindfulness sessions on my own. The results overall have been very positive, with measurable benefits having been achieved. I am confident that my mental awareness and anxiety issues will improve even further over time.

David creates an environment that helps you to feel safe and calm when learning how to meditate for the first time. Being taught mindfulness has made me far more aware during everyday activities. Family and work colleagues have all noticed the impact in how much calmer and less reactive I am. Daily mindfulness meditation is definitely part of my life now.

PROFESSIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Having worked with David in school and with his straightforward yet powerful guides to mindfulness, I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone seeking a highly-talented, meticulous and conscientious mindfulness teacher. David has a gentle, assured manner and is able to guide students and clients with great skill and care. He has a flair for relating with and connecting to both children and adults, knowing how to assist and encourage at the right times.

David has had a huge impact on children and staff through his mindfulness work. After introducing some simple exercises to teachers at a staff meeting, I felt motivated to make this a priority with my pupils. With support from David, I started doing five minutes of meditation with my class every day. I also enjoyed going to his after-school club, as it gave me new ideas for my own class and was also a way to get some mindfulness for myself into my busy school day! After a few weeks of doing daily meditation with my class, they told me they were using these skills at home to help them calm down if they were experiencing an uncomfortable feeling or couldn't sleep. They also told me that they most looked forward to that part of their school day. Several years later and I am still making mindfulness a priority in my classroom.

David has been an amazing ambassador for mindful meditation and promoting the wellbeing of staff and pupils. He is a huge advocate for pupil voice and has used this to raise the profile of mindfulness across the school with children leading whole class and whole-school meditation sessions. The staff and pupils really embraced the programme, with many pupils reporting how it made them feel calmer, concentrate better in lessons and manage their emotional responses to difficulties on the playground. I found the implementation of meditation sessions following lunchtimes was an effective tool in relaxing the children and helping them to refocus on the afternoon sessions. For me personally, the different strategies David shared with us - including the body scan and sensory exercises - helped to keep me grounded and regulate my own responses to the day-to-day demands of teachings.

I think the mindful meditation has had a huge impact on our children. They have learnt many meditation techniques which they use in class and even at home. I've had some children tell me that they meditate in their bedroom if they are feeling angry or frustrated. This is a skill which they are in control of and is one that they can carry on through life with. It's really nice when children share some of their techniques, which they have made up, with the class. This shows how much they have taken it on board and enjoy doing it. One boy even made a mindful meditation book, where he wrote down his own ideas! Overall the meditation exercises help children to concentrate, focus and be calm, which can only have positive affects on behaviour and work ethic. This is something that we do daily in class and I feel is really important for the wellbeing of our children. Thank you David for all your hard work and passion for the subject.

David's impact has been substantial throughout our school, benefitting pupils and staff alike. Children have been able to apply their new skills to manage their own behaviour and personalise their strategies. Regular assemblies have embedded the different approaches and strategies that can be used, e.g. during public speaking, exam situations and sporting matches. David's support and promotion of staff wellbeing is to be applauded and his willingness to be available to support staff is amazing! He has even made himself available to help staff after school with 1:1 meditation coaching. His passion to use meditation to support his colleagues and pupils is evident. He is also constantly looking to extend and improve the overall mental health of our school.

There has been a definite impact on the children's ability to understand and value their emotions. They are more aware of their mental health and the connection between their mental and physical well-being. Having this as a focus has really helped a lot of our children to value their emotions and feel like they can express their emotions to each other and to adults in school - which helps us to better understand and support each individual. I think, for me as a staff member, I am also more aware of how my own mental wellbeing is a priority as it is for my pupils. Like the children, I cannot be at my best if I am not managing my own stress levels and emotions. Having the mindful meditation more embedded into daily classroom practice has been very helpful in this way.

Introducing meditation after guidance from David has really helped my class to settle more quickly and quietly in the morning during registration. A number of children will now naturally meditate when waiting. As a new teacher, meditation has helped me to get my class into a good routine and made the learning environment very calm, which is really important for a positive learning environment. We still do it every day and meditation continues to help with behaviour management.

Since they have been taught mindful meditation the children are quicker to settle. Sessions led by the children brings a calm into the classroom and allows the teacher a positive beginning to the lesson. It is also lovely to see children taking time to use their meditation skills on their own or in small groups, older encouraging younger. As the children practise their skills, this allows staff to centre themselves. The atmosphere in the classroom changes and there is a readiness to learn. This calming atmosphere helps in so many ways as it helps the less confident to find peace and quiet and the more confident to stop and 'listen' to the environmental sounds, to their body and to just be. The children are also able to transfer these skills to every part of their daily life giving them scaffolding to cope with the 'stresses' of life. David, you are an encourager and you practice what you preach, thus being able to speak with authority and great positivity about the benefits of mindfulness to all.

I'd just like to say a big thank you to Mr M for an excellent assembly at our school. He was super prepared and engaged the children and staff brilliantly.

After your fabulous assembly, you'll be delighted to know that mindful meditation has now become part and parcel of what we do at our school!

David introduced us to meditation with his informative and interactive assemblies. Children from Nursery to Year 6 were able to engage and enjoy themselves. The resources David left with us ensured that we could get going with whole school meditation straight away. Children are now regularly meditating in registration, as they line up and in breaks between lessons. It has been a great way to teach children about their wellbeing and create a calm atmosphere across school. Thank you, Mr M!
